Wrapped alone in this dungeon she feels so cold
So cold,
So cold,
So cold,
The cage is rusted over from years of use
How many girls have been behind here before?
How many ophelias have sat here with their hair in ribbons
Their hands holding flowers
And their powdered faces streaked with tears?

Come one! Come all! See the Ophelia tours!
Watch the madwomen of the Asylum
Aren't they insane?
See the tears in their faces
Their agony
Their pain?
Oh yes, so sorrowful that they should be locked away
Locked far away where we won't have to pity them
It's dangerous to our pride you see

It is funny how a cage can diminish someone's humanity
Put a woman behind bars and she's not a woman
She's an animal
Too dangerous to society
She wants to vote and we cannot allow that
We mustn't! We mustn't!
So let's rape them, and torture them
Let's pry into their minds,
See how much pain they can endure

Oh pity, one is dead. Oh well,
There is always more where that one came from

Come one! Come all! See the Ophelia Tours!
Watch the madwomen of the Asylum
Feel their anger
See the bloodlust in their eyes
The anguish
Their rage
Oh yes, so hateful that they should be locked away
Locked far away where we can all sleep safe
It's dangerous to our lives you see

She pulls the leech close to her chest
Slowly her blood it sucks
It sucks,
It sucks,
It sucks,
It sucks her dry, day after day,
Night after night
It sucks,
It sucks,
It sucks,
Day after day,
Night after-...

Oops. She died,
A suicide
A tragedy to be glamourized
Bring the artists, the poets, the singers
Lets write a play about our Opheliac dear
How tragic that she lost her mind here
And how her life ended here

The girls are growing restless
The rats scream out feeling their plight
Their lust, their lies
The doctors are growing nervous
And they should too

The girls have not had their fingernails trimmed in such a long while
Like knives those nails could be used
Their hair is wild and so are they
If they weren't mad before, they certainly are now

Come now, Doctor?
Isn't this what you expected of your patients?
What's the matter? Do you miss their quiet ways?
I thought they were insane
Insane,
Insane,
Insane,
Apparrently this is what true madness is
Aren't you fascinated?
Why are you scared?
Hmm? Can you tell me why are you afraid?

I thought this was what you wanted from us
Here we are completely lost and filled with bloodlust
Who shall be the first victim of these women driven mad
By you,
By you,
By you,
Well it should be none other than you

Take the scalpel girls, brandish it like a sword!
Lace up your stockings and pull out your hatpins!
We go to war!
To war,
To war,
To war,
Let the scarlet rain down these dreary walls
It will provide us some color at last

Asylum means peace, but tonight there will be chaos
No peace, no silence, but screams
Glorious screams, because for once
Those screams don't belong to me
They belong to the tormentors

Run little doctors
Like dogs with tails beneath your legs
Run little nurses
You sick accomplices
Run in fear from the monsters you've created

Come one! Come all! Come see the Ophelia tours!
The Ophelia's aren't here anymore,
But they've left lovely gifts for you
A doctor hanging by his throat
A doctor with a heart-shaped scar around his chest,
Too bad his throat is slit
Too bad that they're all dead
Dead,
Dead,
Dead,
And a tea party shall be thrown in their absence

Let us free
Let the Ophelia's be
But we'll be good, and we'll throw ourselves off bridges
Like all good Victorian ladies should
That way you still have plenty of drawings to take inspiration of
Plenty of poems to write
Plenty of songs to sing

We're all good little girls at heart

I like the term "opheliac"

Yes it is, same era, same situation. The credit for the word 'opheliac' goes to Emilie Autumn. Seriously, the woman is an explosion of creativity.

My next few stories might come from this era, really...it's not as glamorous as a lot of people crack it up to be. No wonder Goth comes from this era, it was a fucked up time to live in.

I went dancing with the queen on monday, skinny dipping on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, came home to find that zombies had eaten all of my underpants.
Beautiful.
I like it.

Sexxxxxxxx in a box.

Cramped.
yes, after seeing all your journals and things about her, i decided to check her out, you're right - really cool, insanely talented.

It is kind of strange how people romanticise the Victorian era, but also understandable, because a lot of the time the Victorian era was trying to romanticise itself.

Last year in EE1 we did a section pertially about the Victorian era, some of the stuff that was discussed was really disturbing. and yes, fucked up indeed, lol

Yes it is strange. But if you didn't know the crap that was taking place I suppose you'd romanticize it too.
